Construction & Home Building

Building a home from the ground up is powerful work. Our construction volunteers frame walls, install siding, paint interiors, landscape yards and much more. You’ll work alongside future homeowners and experienced crew leaders who guide you through every step. All skill levels welcome.

Home Repair & Community Development

Home repair volunteers complete accessibility modifications, critical repairs, weatherization projects, and exterior improvements that help families stay in the homes they love. Projects may include building wheelchair ramps, repairing roofs, painting exteriors, and installing energy-efficient windows. Repair shifts run year-round with flexible scheduling.

Non-Construction Volunteer Opportunities

We need volunteers who can lend their skills in event coordination, committee work, office support, community outreach, and program assistance. Help us plan fundraising events, support homeowner services, manage volunteer check-ins, or serve on advisory committees. These roles are often flexible, remote-friendly, and designed around your schedule and expertise.

Questions About Volunteering?

No construction experience is required. We provide all training, tools, and supervision you need to contribute safely and effectively. Most of our volunteers had never picked up a power tool before their first shift and many of them are now regular crew members who can frame a wall or install drywall with confidence. If you can follow instructions and work as part of a team, you can build with us.

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (boots preferred), long pants, and weather-appropriate layers you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, work gloves if you have them, and a lunch or snacks for the day. We provide all tools, hard hats, and safety equipment. Avoid loose jewelry, open-toed shoes, and clothing that could get caught in tools or equipment.

Most construction and home repair shifts run from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Non-construction volunteer roles (office support, event coordination, committee work) have more flexible scheduling and can often be done remotely or during weekday business hours. Check the volunteer platform for current shift availability.

Volunteers ages 14-17 are welcome on construction sites when accompanied by a parent or guardian. We also offer youth-specific volunteer days and school break build events designed for students and families. Office and event volunteer roles may have different age requirements. Contact us directly if you’re organizing a youth group or school service project — we can work with you to design an age-appropriate volunteer experience.

New volunteers start by registering for a volunteer orientation session. Orientation covers safety protocols, our mission and programs, what to expect on-site, and how to use the volunteer platform to sign up for shifts. Once you’ve completed orientation, you’re cleared to sign up for any available shift that matches your interests and availability. Registration and orientation details are available through the “Get Started” link at the top of this page.

Let’s Build Together

Every home we build and every repair we complete, starts with people like you choosing to show up. Whether you can give one volunteer shift or fifty, your contributions make a difference.
